A woman’s self-worth is valued more than her sex appeal, especially in the world of music, where she is given the ability to create that touches many hearts and the power to also become a role model that many admire and aspire to be like. However, as seen in ghosts of history past and in examples of modern times, it stands true that women in music are pushed to be submissive, sexual creatures, incomparable to their male counterparts. Although there are some women who have step beyond the boundaries of their expectation, others still remain behind this line. These are the women that are pressurized by the business to exploit their bodies in order to strike it rich within the world of music. Especially by today’s standards, the music†¦show more content†¦Also to her further her argument she says that the arts such as novels, music, poetry does not increase a women’s ability for high thinking but in fact lowers it, she states that â€Å"relaxes the powers of the mind and prevents intellect†, she claims that music causes a women to become more emotional and impetuous â€Å"by nature calm the passions†. Wollstonecraft is basically saying that females should be working towards goals that will showcase abilities deem them worthy of intellect so that they stand beside their male counterparts and prove to the males that they have at least the equal amounts of it. Music, to Wollstonecraft, does not prove this intellect. Because music often connects with people on deeper levels that is able to withdrawal emotions, it can be argued that only a man can construct it, since they possess the processes for it. For this reason, throughout centuries there where even gender distinction within music. Dimension music was applauded, that is why it was associated with the â€Å"masculine† themes, usually powerful and strong melodies, with layered with complexities of rhythms, dynamics, and keys, where as â€Å"feminine† th emes consisting of with sweet and lyric , toned down with single solo lines with simplistic chords.
